As part of its sustained crackdown on cult-related activities in Ondo State, the Ondo State Police Command has recorded a significant operational breakthrough with the arrest of twenty-five (25) suspected cult members.
On Thursday, January 8, 2026, the Command received reliable intelligence from a concerned member of the public indicating that members of the Neo Black Movement (NBM) were planning to carry out an initiation ceremony in Uso. Acting promptly on this information, police operatives were deployed using intelligence-driven strategies to stop the planned activity.
The operation led to the arrest of twenty-five (25) suspects at the initiation venue. The suspects were drawn from Ondo, Osun, Lagos, and Edo States. During the operation, the police recovered one Toyota Highlander SUV and one unregistered Daylong motorcycle from the suspects. All arrested individuals are currently in police custody and have reportedly confessed to their involvement in cult-related activities. They will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, praised the operatives for their swift response, professionalism, and commitment. He reaffirmed the Command’s determination to sustain the fight against cultism and ensure the safety of residents across the State.
The Commissioner also expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, for his strategic leadership and continued support, which have strengthened the Command’s capacity to combat cult-related crimes.
He further advised youths to stay away from cultism, stressing that such activities offer no benefits and only lead to severe and regrettable consequences.

He encouraged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist the Police in preventing and fighting crime across the State.
