The Dangote Group has announced a major new partnership with Honeywell International Inc. to power the next phase of growth for the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. The collaboration will bring cutting-edge technology and expertise that will help the refinery raise its processing capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028—an important step toward achieving the company’s vision of building the world’s largest refining complex.

Under the new agreement, Honeywell will provide advanced catalysts, specialised equipment, and process technologies that will allow the refinery to handle a wider range of crude oil grades more efficiently, while also boosting product quality and improving overall system reliability.
Honeywell, a global Fortune 100 company known for its innovations in aviation, automotive systems, industrial automation, and advanced materials, has been a trusted technology partner to Dangote since 2017. Through its UOP division, the company has previously supplied proprietary refining technologies, catalyst regeneration systems, high-efficiency column trays, and heat-exchange equipment crucial to the refinery’s operations.
Dangote is also expanding its petrochemical portfolio as part of this collaboration. The company will scale its polypropylene output to 2.4 million metric tons per year using Honeywell’s Oleflex technology. Polypropylene is a vital industrial polymer used in packaging, manufacturing, automotive parts, and many other sectors.
Beyond the refining and petrochemical expansions, Dangote Group is pushing forward with the next stage of its fertiliser production growth in Nigeria. The company plans to increase its urea capacity from 3 million metric tons to 9 million metric tons annually. Current production is delivered through two 1.5-million-ton trains, and the expansion will add four more trains to meet rising demand across Africa and international markets.
The Dangote Group reaffirmed its commitment to building world-class industrial capacity, improving Nigeria’s energy security, and driving sustainable economic development through continued investment, innovation, and global partnerships.
