The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) has announced a new round of management appointments and special promotions following its 64th Regular Meeting, held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. The session focused on strengthening the Service’s leadership structure and advancing personnel development.

Chaired by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, the Board approved the elevation of five Deputy Comptroller-Generals (DCGs) of Customs and eight Assistant Comptroller-Generals (ACGs). The appointments were made in accordance with statutory guidelines and the Federal Character Policy outlined in Section 14(4) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.
The newly appointed Deputy Comptroller-Generals are:
- Baba Imam (North-East)
- Isah Umar (North-West)
- Tijjani Abe (North-West)
- Timi Bomodi (South-South)
- Oluyomi Adebakin (South-West)
Their elevations follow the retirement of senior officers and are intended to reinforce high-level leadership across various formations.
The Board also approved the appointment of the following officers as Assistant Comptroller-Generals:
- C.G. Ogbonna (South-East)
- I. Abba-Aji (North-East)
- G.M. Haruna (South-South)
- E.J. Edelduok (South-South)
- G. Gaura (North-West)
- I. Isyaku (North-West)
- M.S. Shuaibu (North-Central)
- M.D. Malah (North-East)
These appointments reflect the Board’s ongoing drive to strengthen policy execution, compliance oversight and operational efficiency.
Additionally, ten officers who demonstrated exceptional leadership, professionalism, and outstanding service performance were granted Special Promotion. They include:
- A.C. Fanyam – Comptroller of Customs
- G.M. Shidali – Comptroller of Customs
- S. Omofoma – Deputy Comptroller of Customs
- O.A. Oladepo – Deputy Comptroller of Customs
- A.Y. Musa – Deputy Comptroller of Customs
- A. Ogboru – Deputy Comptroller of Customs
- A.A. Maiwada – Deputy Comptroller of Customs
- C.N. Essien – Assistant Comptroller of Customs
- H. Aliyu – Assistant Comptroller of Customs
- A.S. Shofadekan – Deputy Superintendent of Customs
The Board emphasized that the Special Promotion category is reserved for officers whose exemplary work has significantly advanced operations, boosted national revenue, and strengthened security.
According to the Board, these appointments and promotions form part of wider efforts to enhance leadership succession, boost staff morale, and ensure that the Nigeria Customs Service remains efficient, motivated, and capable of addressing evolving trade and security challenges.
