Momentum is building around the National Political Summit, set to take place on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in Abuja, as the Nigerian Presidency, accredited foreign missions, and prominent political stakeholders have submitted their interventions to the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for inclusion in the summit’s final agenda.

In a statement released in Abuja on Sunday, the LOC described the forthcoming summit as Nigeria’s foremost platform for popular diplomacy and national reform, coming at a critical time amid growing international concern over insecurity and recent comments attributed to former U.S. President Donald J. Trump.
According to the LOC, the event will draw participation from senior government officials, including representatives from the Presidency, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), serving and former Governors, Chairmen of past National Assembly electoral reform committees, presidential aspirants, and foreign envoys. The high-profile gathering will take place at the Conference Hall of the NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja.
Diplomatic representatives from the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, Commonwealth, ECOWAS, African Union, and other development partners have also been invited to the opening ceremony — a move organisers say underscores the global community’s growing interest in Nigeria’s democratic renewal.
The summit will be chaired by former President Goodluck Jonathan, with former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo delivering the keynote address. The SGF is expected to lead the federal government delegation, while the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) is coordinating the attendance of selected governors. Also confirmed are the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and members of the National Assembly’s constitutional amendment committees.
With delegate registration now exceeding initial projections of 500 participants, organisers have added a special National Security Session to examine the implications of recent diplomatic statements and assess Nigeria’s evolving global image.
The summit is expected to conclude with a unified national declaration, outlining key constitutional and governance reforms aimed at strengthening stability and ensuring credible elections ahead of 2027.
