Fatodu gave the commendation on Friday when a delegation from Flykite Productions, organisers of the event, paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere. The visit was to brief the Commission on plans for GOtv Boxing Night 34, scheduled for December 26, 2025, at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos.

Speaking during the meeting, Fatodu described GOtv Boxing Night as one of the longest-running and most impactful private-sector sports initiatives in Nigeria.

“What GOtv Boxing Night has achieved over the years deserves every form of recognition and support,” he said. “It has reignited national interest in boxing and consistently delivered world-class entertainment for fans. Lagos State is proud to be associated with such an enduring and inspiring platform.”

He reaffirmed the state’s readiness to support the upcoming edition, adding that the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu remains deeply committed to nurturing sports excellence and collaborating with credible private partners.

“Our vision is to make Lagos the sports capital of Africa, and initiatives like GOtv Boxing Night play a key role in achieving that. We’ll continue to offer institutional backing to ensure it keeps growing from strength to strength,” Fatodu added.

Earlier, Mr. Bamidele Johnson, Chief Operating Officer of Flykite Productions, thanked the Commission for its unwavering support since the show’s inception, noting that Lagos has remained the home of GOtv Boxing Night due to its world-class facilities and passionate fans.

Johnson revealed that the December edition, themed “Jam Festival,” will combine thrilling boxing bouts featuring Nigeria’s top fighters with live performances from leading music acts and comedy segments—creating an exciting fusion of sports and entertainment.

“We’re thrilled to return to TBS, where Lagosians have witnessed many unforgettable editions of GOtv Boxing Night. This year’s event will be bigger, better, and even more entertaining,” he said.

GOtv Boxing Night 34 will air live on SuperSport, bringing the excitement of Lagos’s premier boxing event to fans across the continent.
