In recognition of the pivotal role the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) has played in shaping Lagos politics since the era of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) as Governor, renowned political journalist and publisher of August24News.com, Ajagbe Adeyemi Teslim, today presented a special GAC Frame to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.

The presentation, held at the Speaker’s office in Ikeja, featured a beautifully designed 24×34-inch frame displaying the names, photographs, local governments, and senatorial districts of all 35 distinguished members of the GAC—the highest decision-making body in Lagos politics. The frame also included a tribute to eight late members, honoring their enduring legacy.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Teslim explained that the initiative was a product of detailed research by the August24News editorial team. According to him, showcasing the “35 wise men and women” in a single frame highlights their unity, contribution, and well-deserved recognition, while also inspiring present and future political leaders to remain dedicated to the service of Lagos State, Nigeria, and humanity at large.
He further noted that this was just the beginning of the frame’s rollout, which will also be presented to the Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat, state commissioners, lawmakers, council chairmen, and other dignitaries across the state.
In his remarks, Speaker Obasa expressed heartfelt appreciation to the August24News team for the creative gesture, commending the publisher for preserving an important part of Lagos political history. He pledged to keep the frame in a special place within his office and archives for future generations, while also leading a minute of silence in honor of the departed GAC members.
Also speaking, Alhaji Mutiu Are, GAC Secretary, described the Council as “one of the beauties of Lagos politics,” while political analyst and publisher of Upshot Media, Mr. Mojeed Jamiu, praised the initiative, stating that GAC members truly deserve such recognition given their enormous contributions to governance in the state.
The GAC, widely regarded as one of the enduring legacies of President Tinubu’s governorship, continues to serve as a model of structured political leadership and governance in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
