This commendation was made during its Press Week programme held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, in Lagos, where members gathered to review the performance of maritime agencies operating along the Lagos port corridors.

Beyond infrastructure growth, the group also praised the NPA Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, for his relentless commitment to positioning Nigeria’s ports to compete favourably with counterparts across the globe. Members of the Chapel unanimously acknowledged his resilience, visionary leadership, and determination to drive prosperity within the maritime sector.

In the same spirit, the President-General of the Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (MAJAN), Comrade Jerry Aguigbo, congratulated Dr. Dantsoho on his election as Vice-President of the International Association for Ports and Harbours (IAPH).

Aguigbo described the NPA boss as a result-oriented leader whose impact is evident in the ongoing transformation of Nigeria’s port industry.

“Dr. Dantsoho has been consistent in improving port operations and laying down policies that promote growth and efficiency. His election as IAPH Vice-President is not just well-deserved but also a global recognition of Nigeria’s rising profile in maritime affairs,” Aguigbo said.

He further noted that industry stakeholders have widely acknowledged Dr. Dantsoho’s performance, stressing that his leadership style continues to bring honour to the nation.
