In a firm statement, the government condemned the attack, describing it as unacceptable and a betrayal of the values of service and patriotism that corps members represent.
Commissioner for Information, Mr. Law Mefor, clarified that the state’s security outfits—Agunechemba and Operation Udo Ga-Achi—were established under the Anambra Homeland Security Law 2025 to protect lives and property, not to intimidate or harm citizens. He noted that since their creation in January 2025, the outfits have largely upheld peace and order in the state.
The government stressed that any form of abuse or misconduct by security personnel falls outside their mandate and will not be tolerated. Those involved in the assault will face the full force of the law.
Reassuring the public, especially corps members serving in Anambra, the government emphasized that they are safe and should carry out their duties without fear.
It further commended the swift action of the police and Operation Udo Ga-Achi leadership in arresting the perpetrators, while urging the victim to cooperate fully to ensure justice is served without delay.
