MAJAN Honours Predecessor and Congratulates New MWUN President General

Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, the recently elected President General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), has received heartfelt congratulations from the Maritime Journalists’ Association of Nigeria (MAJAN).

A sincere message of support and hope for the union’s future under the new leadership is included with the announcement. The association’s president, Mr. Jerry Aguigbo, commended the new President General in a statement released by MAJAN’s Public Relations Officer, Frank Odinukaeze.

He said that the election was a testament to his commitment, fortitude, and the confidence that union members had placed in him. “Your emergence is a testament to your leadership qualities and the confidence the union members have in your ability to guide them towards progress, unity, and effective advocacy,” the statement continued.

Additionally, the association took use of the occasion to honour Dr. Adeyanju, the founding Chairman of the MWUN Board of Trustees and the immediate past President General. His inspirational leadership and unwavering work ethic were praised by MAJAN for helping to establish a strong basis for the union’s future expansion.

The letter emphasised, “Your legacy will undoubtedly inspire generations to come,” in reference to his long-standing contributions to the nautical industry. MAJAN emphasised the significance of growth and togetherness within the maritime community as it expressed its confidence and support for both leaders’ continued success in their separate responsibilities as the MWUN begins this new chapter.
