Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in Zamfara State’s Talata Mafara Local Government Area demonstrated in the streets on Monday against what they called Governor Dauda Lawal’s inadequate leadership.

In a forceful demonstration against Governor Dauda Lawal, the demonstrators said that, in terms of security, job development, and economic prospects, the previous administration of Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle MON was considerably superior to the current one.
The governor was accused by the protesters of ignoring the welfare of the populace, making hunger worse, and forcing candidates in municipal elections against popular will. Participants in the demonstration said they wished that former Governor Bello Matawalle had been in office because they felt that he was more receptive to the demands of the populace.
Fellow protesters agreed with Ibrahim when he said, “We miss former Governor Matawalle.” “He at least had concern for the populace. We will vote for him, and we are urging him to run in the upcoming election. The demonstrators, led by Muhammad Ibrahim Talatar Marafa, a local leader of the PDP, gathered at the local government headquarters to express their disapproval of the administration. They accused the governor of putting his own opulence ahead of the welfare of the populace. Ibrahim declared, “We’re sick of Governor Dauda’s policies.”
“Hunger is widespread and has gotten worse, and the people are suffering.” The governor, however, ignores the suffering of the average person and leads an opulent lifestyle. Additionally, the demonstrators claimed that the governor’s decision to force candidates in the most recent local elections violated democratic principles by meddling in the party’s internal affairs.
“This isn’t democracy,” said Ibrahim. “The decision made by the people was ignored. Dauda seems to be more concerned with advancing his own goals than with attending to Zamfara’s requirements. The demonstrators expressed concerns about growing insecurity in addition to election-related issues, claiming that the area is still becoming more vulnerable to bandit attacks.
They also bemoaned the rising price of food and the overall financial difficulties that the locals are experiencing. One demonstrator remarked, “The hunger situation here has gotten worse and there seems to be no solution in sight.” “People are starving here.” Hon. Sulaiman Abubakar Gummi, a federal legislator from Zamfara state, must have had to leave the PDP in order to join the APC because of everything that was going on in the state.
A member of the Federal House of Representatives from the Gummi/Bukkuyum Constituency, Hon. Sulaiman Abubakar Gummi, has defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Governor Lawal’s actions will bode disaster for the PDP in the state since additional defections will shortly befall the party.
