Two athletes from the Lagos State Taekwondo team have secured places in Nigeria’s national team after delivering outstanding performances at the recently concluded Nigeria Taekwondo Federation National Open trials held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The athletes, Olapeju Oyebanji and Oladimeji Abdullah, both emerged gold medal winners in their respective categories. Oyebanji claimed gold in the female heavyweight (+73kg) division, while Abdullah topped the male finweight category to book his place on the national team.
Team Lagos also enjoyed a strong showing throughout the competition, finishing with an impressive haul of four silver and four bronze medals across different events to rank among the best-performing teams at the tournament.
