The Nigeria Police Force has announced another major operational success following the arrest of two suspects linked to a violent criminal network involved in kidnapping, armed robbery, conspiracy, and illegal possession of firearms in Kaduna State and surrounding areas.
The suspects, Yusuf Rabo and Musa Adamu, were taken into custody after investigations into the abduction of an elderly man, Alhaji Rabo Jelani. Police findings showed that Yusuf Rabo allegedly worked with Musa Adamu and another suspect, Ali Haruna—who is currently on the run and also the victim’s grandson—to kidnap the elderly man, reportedly targeting him because of perceived wealth and livestock ownership.
Investigators further revealed that the gang used multiple AK-47 rifles in carrying out their operations. One of the weapons was allegedly provided by Ali Haruna from his father’s collection, while other firearms were sourced through members of the syndicate. During the operation, police recovered one AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine.
According to the report, the victim was abducted on two separate occasions and held in forest hideouts, where ransom negotiations were handled directly by Yusuf Rabo. The first incident led to a payment of ₦2 million, while a later abduction reportedly yielded ₦4.5 million.
The group is also suspected to be behind other violent crimes in the area, including the kidnapping of a trader identified as Mr. Iyke and an armed robbery attack along the Kagoma route, where commuters were robbed of money and valuables.
Authorities say efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspect, Ali Haruna, and recover more weapons and evidence linked to the crimes.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling kidnapping and armed robbery syndicates across the country through sustained, intelligence-driven operations.
