The Committee for the Protection of People’s Mandate (CPPM) has congratulated Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the third anniversary of his administration, praising what it described as bold and courageous economic reforms aimed at repositioning the country for long-term growth and stability.
In a statement signed by the organisation’s Executive Director, Nelson Ekujumi, the group noted that President Tinubu assumed office during one of the most challenging periods in Nigeria’s history, marked by severe fiscal and structural difficulties. According to CPPM, the administration’s tough economic decisions have helped restore hope for a more prosperous future, despite the temporary hardships experienced by citizens.
The group acknowledged that reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidy, the unification of foreign exchange rates, and the introduction of student loan schemes were difficult but necessary measures designed to curb waste, strengthen government finances, and create opportunities for sustainable development.
While admitting that the policies have brought short-term pain, CPPM maintained that they were implemented with the country’s long-term interests in mind. It urged the Federal Government to remain committed to the reform agenda while ensuring that the benefits increasingly translate into improved living conditions for ordinary Nigerians.
Highlighting some achievements recorded over the past three years, CPPM pointed to increased government revenue, reduced dependence on deficit financing, and greater investment in infrastructure and social intervention programmes. It cited projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Highway, Benin-Ore Expressway, Kaduna-Lokoja Highway, airport terminal upgrades, seaport reconstruction, NELFUND, and CREDICORP as examples of the administration’s developmental efforts.
The organisation also commended security agencies for what it described as significant progress in the fight against terrorism and criminality, while acknowledging that security challenges still persist in some parts of the country.
On institutional development, CPPM praised efforts to strengthen anti-corruption agencies, digitise government services, and improve the ease of doing business, saying such initiatives demonstrate a commitment to building more effective public institutions.
The group described President Tinubu’s first three years in office as a period of bold leadership and difficult but necessary choices, stressing that nation-building requires patience and consistency rather than quick fixes.
CPPM further applauded Nigerians both at home and abroad for their resilience, sacrifices, and continued faith in democracy despite prevailing economic and social challenges. It urged citizens not to be swayed by misinformation or actions capable of undermining democratic governance and national stability.
Reaffirming its commitment to constructive engagement with governments at all levels, the organisation said it would continue to advocate for policies that promote prosperity, security, dignity, and a better quality of life for all Nigerians.
