As Muslims around the world prepare to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, the Lagos State Drivers Institute (LASDRI) has called on residents, especially motorists, to embrace safety, compassion, peaceful coexistence, and care for the less privileged during and after the festive period.
In a Salah message to the Muslim faithful, the General Manager of LASDRI, Mrs. Tiamiyu Afusat, described Eid-el-Kabir as a season of sacrifice and reflection, reminding Muslims of the values of humanity, obedience, and mercy symbolised by the divine replacement of Prophet Ismail with a ram.
She urged motorists to prioritise road safety by observing speed limits, ensuring their vehicles are in good condition before travelling, and avoiding night journeys due to poor visibility and the dangers often associated with late-hour travel.
Tiamiyu reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to maintaining safety on the roads before, during, and after celebrations that usually witness increased vehicular and human movement across the state.
She also appealed to drivers and other road users to remain patient, considerate, and responsible on the roads as a reflection of the spirit of sacrifice and tolerance that Eid-el-Kabir represents.
The LASDRI boss further reiterated the agency’s commitment to working closely with other traffic and safety agencies to strengthen compliance with traffic laws and promote safer roads across Lagos State.
She wished all Muslim faithful and residents of Lagos a peaceful, joyful, and accident-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
