Yilwatda Warns APC Aspirants: Uphold Discipline, Ensure Peaceful Primaries or Risk Sanctions

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has urged all aspirants contesting for elective positions under the party’s platform to demonstrate discipline, political maturity, and a sense of statesmanship as the party prepares for its forthcoming primaries nationwide.
Professor Yilwatda made the appeal in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, while addressing aspirants who recently participated in screening exercises organised by various committees set up by the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to conducting transparent, peaceful, credible, and democratic primaries, noting that the process is crucial to strengthening internal democracy and sustaining the confidence Nigerians have continued to place in the ruling party.

He warned that the party leadership would not condone any action capable of disrupting the smooth conduct of the primaries. He stressed that any aspirant or supporter caught inciting violence, sponsoring unrest, engaging in anti-party activities, or attempting to compromise the credibility of the process would face strict disciplinary action, including immediate suspension from the party.
According to him, the APC has carefully built its reputation as one of Nigeria’s most organised and widely accepted political parties, and no personal ambition would be allowed to supersede the collective interest of the party or the peace and stability of the nation.
Professor Yilwatda also reminded aspirants that contests of this nature will always produce winners and others who may not emerge victorious. He emphasised that democracy can only thrive where there is healthy competition, mutual respect, and the willingness to accept outcomes in good faith.

He noted that ongoing reforms and investments in key sectors such as oil and gas, education, healthcare, and technology are already producing encouraging results that are expected to positively shape both the nation’s broader economy and the daily lives of citizens in the coming years.
He also highlighted the massive infrastructure development taking place across various parts of the country, explaining that the projects would boost commercial activities, generate jobs, attract both local and international investors, and ultimately improve the living conditions of Nigerians.
According to him, “The ongoing infrastructure drive under President Tinubu’s administration is set to enhance economic productivity, expand job opportunities, improve access to markets, and strengthen Nigeria’s competitiveness globally. These are long-term investments aimed at transforming communities and building a stronger economic future for the country.”
The APC National Chairman further urged party members, aspirants, and stakeholders to stay united and focused on the shared goal of securing the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
He said the achievements recorded so far by the administration present strong reasons for continuity, while encouraging party loyalists nationwide to mobilise support for the President and sustain the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Professor Yilwatda also reaffirmed the APC leadership’s dedication to fairness, justice, inclusiveness, and party unity, assuring Nigerians that the party would continue to offer purposeful leadership centred on development, stability, and national growth.
