The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has strongly condemned the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, which tragically claimed the lives of innocent residents. He has directed a robust deployment of security personnel to restore peace and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
IGP Disu extends his heartfelt condolences to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, the affected families, and the entire Angwan Rukuba community for this unfortunate loss.
In response, he had previously sent the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Umar Shehu Nadada, psc, mni, to Plateau State to assess the situation, oversee ongoing security efforts, and strengthen local security measures.
To further address the crisis, the IGP has increased operations by deploying additional tactical teams, Police Mobile Force units, and intelligence operatives, working closely with other security agencies to prevent further incidents and maintain law and order across the state. These intensified measures will continue until normalcy is fully restored. Operational commanders have been instructed to maintain a visible presence and actively engage with communities at risk.
IGP Disu also urges the public to remain calm, stay vigilant, and cooperate with security forces. He strongly advises against taking the law into one’s own hands and encourages citizens to promptly report any suspicious activity or security concerns to the appropriate authorities to support ongoing operations.
