The Lagos State Taskforce has stepped up its crackdown on stubborn commercial motorcycle (okada) operators, impounding 70 bikes in its latest operation. The agency made it clear that it will not back down in its fight against the growing menace and illegal activities linked to unauthorized okada operations.
As part of its ongoing efforts to restore order and improve safety across the state, the Taskforce carried out another clean-up enforcement exercise today at the Iyana-Iba axis. This follows a similar operation conducted over the weekend, highlighting its determination to maintain consistent pressure on those who flout traffic laws, environmental standards, and security regulations.

The enforcement drive targeted key points along the Lagos–Mile 2–Badagry Expressway, including Festac First Gate, Mazamaza, and Iyana-Iba.
During the operation, several commercial motorcycle riders were caught using restricted routes, causing traffic disruptions and endangering other road users. Some were also found transporting illegal drugs and flammable products such as petrol (PMS) across borders, while many others contributed to disorder on major highways and nearby roads.
By the end of the exercise, 70 motorcycles had been seized, and normalcy was restored in the affected areas.
The Taskforce emphasized that all impounded motorcycles would be permanently forfeited to the State through due legal process, in line with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018.
Reaffirming the agency’s resolve, CSP Akerele stressed that enforcement operations would continue until full compliance is achieved, adding that the Taskforce will not back down or yield to unlawful activities.
