A Federal High Court has officially cleared suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari of all charges, bringing a long-running legal battle to an end.
Presiding Justice Omotosho ruled that the prosecution had not presented enough evidence to prove the allegations against the former head of the Intelligence Response Team.
Kyari, who had been under intense public and media scrutiny over claims of misconduct, was therefore acquitted, as the court determined the case did not meet the necessary legal standard for conviction.
The judgment marks a major turning point in one of Nigeria’s most closely watched law enforcement cases, fully exonerating Kyari.
