Dangote Group is proud to announce a new set of technical partnerships that will drive the next major phase of growth for our fertiliser operations in Nigeria, as well as support the development of new fertiliser plants in Ethiopia. These collaborations represent a major milestone in our broader vision to boost food security, improve agricultural productivity, and strengthen Africa’s role in the global fertiliser industry.

With these partnerships in place, Dangote Group will expand its urea production capacity in Nigeria from the current three million metric tons to nine million metric tons per year. Our existing plant runs two production trains with a combined output of three million metric tons. The expansion will add four more trains, enabling us to meet the increasing demand for high-quality fertiliser both within Africa and internationally.
Beyond the Nigerian expansion, we recently broke ground on a new $2.5 billion fertiliser plant in Gode, Ethiopia. The facility will produce three million metric tons of urea annually and reflects our commitment to supporting food security and industrial development across the continent.
To ensure our plants meet world-class standards in technology, reliability, and efficiency, Dangote Group has entered into the following key technical partnerships:
Topsoe
Topsoe will provide ammonia technology licenses and full process design packages for six ammonia plants — four in Nigeria and two in Ethiopia. The company is a global leader in advanced ammonia production technologies known for efficiency and environmental responsibility.
Saipem
Saipem will supply the technology licenses and complete process design packages for urea melt units in all six plants. Their long-standing experience in fertiliser engineering brings strong technical depth to the project.
Thyssenkrupp (UFT)
Through its UFT division, Thyssenkrupp will provide granulation technology licenses and full design packages for the granulation units across all plants, enabling the production of premium-grade urea that meets both local and export standards.
Engineers India Limited
Engineers India Limited has been appointed as the project management consultant and as the engineering, procurement, and construction management consultant for the four fertiliser plants under development in Lekki, Nigeria. The company brings proven expertise in delivering large-scale industrial projects.
These collaborations highlight Dangote Group’s dedication to building high-quality industrial facilities that meet rigorous global benchmarks. The expansions will substantially boost regional ammonia and urea production, generate employment, strengthen agricultural value chains, and support long-term economic growth in Nigeria, Ethiopia, and across Africa.
Dangote Group remains committed to developing strong industrial capacity, supporting national development goals, and fostering global partnerships that advance Africa’s long-term growth and prosperity.
