The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, has restated the Nigeria Customs Service’s (NCS) commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and pledged continued support for sister government agencies in carrying out their mandates.

Adeniyi made this known on Thursday, September 25, 2025, when he hosted the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Professor Tunji Olaopa, and his team at the Customs Headquarters in Abuja. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and nurturing strong bonds among institutions.
“In our private discussions and what we have seen here today, it is clear that good neighbourliness is essential. This visit reflects the spirit of friendship and cooperation that we have shared over the years,” Adeniyi said.
Highlighting Customs’ CSR efforts, he recalled that in the first quarter of 2025, the Service adopted a secondary school in Wuse, impacting more than 2,000 students with learning tools and equipment. As part of its ongoing capital projects, Customs is also remodelling the school’s assembly hall and installing solar lighting facilities.
“Many of our officers began their careers in Wuse, so our story is tied to that community. We remain committed to giving back,” he added.
Responding to the Commission’s request for operational vehicles, Adeniyi assured that Customs had taken note and would provide support within available resources. “We may not be able to do everything at once, but what matters most is our commitment to assisting sister agencies,” he stressed.
In his remarks, Professor Olaopa praised the NCS for its reforms and innovations in revenue generation, describing the Service as “a partner in progress.” He noted that the Commission had recently launched its strategic plan and looked forward to deeper collaboration with Customs, especially in CSR and infrastructure support.
“We are proud of the strides Customs has achieved. Even the President recognizes the innovations in revenue generation. We see Customs as a model for other agencies,” Olaopa declared.
The meeting closed on a shared commitment to national development, with both institutions pledging to strengthen cooperation and partnership.
