Nigeria Customs to Replace Fast Track Scheme with Global Authorised Economic Operator Programme by December 2025

In a major step toward aligning Nigeria’s trade systems with international standards, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is phasing out its current Fast Track Scheme and adopting the globally recognised Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme.
Effective December 31, 2025, the Fast Track Scheme will be retired, and only businesses approved under the new AEO Programme will continue to enjoy key trade facilitation benefits such as faster cargo clearance, reduced inspections, and priority processing.
The AEO Programme—based on the World Customs Organization’s SAFE Framework and Nigeria’s Customs Act of 2023—aims to reward compliant and secure businesses with streamlined customs procedures. Companies currently benefiting from Fast Track are expected to apply for the AEO Programme through aeo.nigeriatradehub.gov.ng.
To guide stakeholders through this transition, the NCS will host an engagement forum on August 6, 2025, at Bon Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos. The event will provide insights into the AEO Programme’s benefits, eligibility criteria, and application process.
The Customs Service urges all qualified importers, exporters, logistics providers, and agents to take advantage of the new system, which is set to boost cargo security, transparency, and Nigeria’s global trade ranking.
