Darlington Okoye—better known as Speed Darlington has shot back at the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), demanding a hefty ₦2.5 million appearance fee before he’ll honor their invitation.

Speed posted a fiery video online stating that he won’t turn up unless NAPTIP covers the fee plus travel expenses for him and his personal assistant. “I’ve done nothing wrong,” he insisted, arguing that merely speaking his mind isn’t a crime. “Where’s your evidence? Who’s complaining?” he challenged.
He accused the agency of chasing social media attention: “All your wanted posters plastered everywhere take them down. I’m not coming.” In his view, being summoned without substantiated evidence isn’t worth his time unless compensated.
This exchange follows NAPTIP’s declaration last Friday, naming Speed Darlington wanted for alleged rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking. The agency made a public appeal for anyone with information to come forward, providing both a hotline and email contact.
The summons stems from a controversial live-streamed video in which Speed claimed he had sex with a 15-year-old girl—sparked outrage and prompted NAPTIP to launch an investigation under the Trafficking in Persons Act and the Cybercrime Act. He ignored two formal summonses in late May and early June, allegedly even offering his own preferred date of June 26, which the agency later rejected.
Now, Speed Darlington seems unabashed: he’s standing firm, question marks swirling around the allegations and plenty of skepticism about NAPTIP’s motives. Whether this will force a face-to-face showdown or end with a courtroom drama—is anyone’s guess. But one thing’s clear: this isn’t over yet.
