The Nigerian military is on high alert to protect government facilities and guarantee citizen security, the Minister reaffirmed in light of the current circumstances. He issued a warning that security personnel will resolutely respond to any attempts to disrupt public order or attack government installations.
He recognised the seriousness of the political situation in Rivers State and the pressing need for intervention in his reflection of the President’s speech on the state of emergency. He drew attention to the state governor’s regrettable destruction of the House of Assembly, which has left the state without a functioning legislative for more than 14 months.
