Bolaji Agbede, the acting managing director of Access Bank, and three other individuals have been placed under arrest by Lagos State High Court Judge Ibironke Harrison for allegedly neglecting to show up for arraignment.

Adejare Adegbenro, DDSS International Company Limited, and Balmoral International Limited were also impacted by the judge’s ruling. After Lagos State prosecution attorney Uthman̈ Rilwan told the court that he had served the defendants with notice but they did not show up for the arraignment, Justice Harrison issued the arrest warrant. The defendants were charged with four counts of conspiracy, theft, and attempted theft by the Lagos State government.
Rilwan told the court that the defendants would be arraigned that day when the case was called, but they were not there even though they had been notified of the court date. According to the prosecutor, the defendants planned to steal something at Plot 1261, Adeola Hopewell Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, on or around September 2, 2013.
He claimed that without the complainant’s approval, Adejare, Balmoral, Access Bank, and Agbede used the property of MOB Integrated Services at Plot 40b, Burdillion Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, as collateral for a loan, and then entered into a consent judgement. They were also charged with providing and giving DDSS International Company Limited a N1 billion credit facility on May 26, 2019, in an attempt to steal MOB Integrated Services’ property.
Sections 411, 280, and 21 of the Lagos State 2011 Criminal Laws were violated, the prosecutor claimed. “This is for arraignment today, My Lord, and a copy of the charge has been duly served to the defendants,” Rilwan said. To make sure the defendant shows up for the upcoming court date, we ask the court to issue a bench warrant for their arrest.
As a result, a bench warrant was issued by Justice Harrison against DDSS International Company Limited, Access Bank, Bolaji Agbede, and Balmoral International Limited, the second through fifth defendants.
The judge postponed the case to February 24, 2025, for the defendants’ arraignment, and ordered that the bench warrant against the principal officers be executed. Trixx Nigeria is the source.
