Hon. Okechukwu Sydney Edeh, the Executive Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area, the National Publicity Secretary of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Enugu State, and the chairman of the ALGON, has reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling the campaign pledges made by Governor Peter Mbah, especially in the areas of poverty alleviation and youth empowerment.

Speaking at a skills-building event hosted by the “Tomorrow is Here Initiative,” Edeh underlined the value of inclusive growth at the grassroots level in fostering job creation and lowering poverty. “Zero tolerance to unemployment is gaining traction in the face of the present economic trajectory, and it must begin with effective, efficient, and sustainable programmes,” said Edeh.
He pointed out that in order to give young people automatic ownership of wealth creation, these programs should create chances, foster a feeling of belonging, and promote vocational education, skill development, and empowerment. Edeh gave Governor Peter Mbah praise for his efforts to empower and train young people in Enugu. He said that the foundation of a new economic revival in Enugu State’s 17 LGAs is the vocation/skill acquisition programs. Hon. Lloyd Ekweremadu, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, further underlined the significance of youth skill development in accomplishing the administration of Governor Peter Mbah’s zero poverty goal.
He expressed his gratitude to Hon. Edeh for his unwavering commitment and assistance over the training time, which has yielded enormous results. During the event, individuals who performed very well in the training program received rewards. The ultimate winner was Miss Ngọzi Edeh, with Agunwa Michael and Elochukwu Uzochi placing second and third, respectively. Ten more individuals were also given equipment and take-off grants by the chairman.
Hon. Paul Okwor, the Deputy Chairman of Nkanu East LGA, and Hon. Promise Ikejiofor, the Coordinator of the “Tomorrow is Here Initiative,” were among the dignitaries present.
