Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has come under fire from the South West Youth Forum in Ondo State, which claims he appointed 344 persons as his personal assistants.

The group’s vice chairman, Ogbeni Ibrahim Balogun, and public relations officer, Dr. Ayodele Aderopo, jointly released a statement in which they described the new appointments as absurd, citing a lack of progress and the state’s ongoing economic difficulty.
“The current government declares the appointment of 344 SAs as soon as it awakens. This demonstrates the government’s lack of vision over the past nine months in failing to give opportunities to effectively engage the state’s army of unemployed people and validates the well documented situation of stratospheric unemployment in the state.”
“Despite Ondo State generating 12% of the nation’s oil, nothing shows for it; rather, the governor overbought political aides and wasted taxpayer money when masses have no access to modern infrastructural facilities and social amenities in the oil-producing state and several road projects abandoned across the state or bodily enough awarded the Akure-Ondo Road, Ondo-Ore Road, or Road for Dualization, not talk of Okitipupa-IIgbokoda road.”
“The South West Youth Forum stressed that these wasteful efforts would have channeled into the employment of teachers in rural areas and supported agricultural production to alleviate the impact of high costs of living in the state.” “We are telling Mr. Governor that Pa Awolowo did not envision this, especially in his home town of Pa Ajasin, who believes that education is important for the South West.”
Due to its poor leadership, high unemployment rate, and deep-rooted insecurity, Ondo State has the highest crime rate in the Southwest. We are seeking a governor with a strong sense of vision for the advancement of the state and boundless energy.”
“It is proven that Governor Aiyedatiwa’s appointments thus far are being exploited for political gain in the off-cycle governorship election, rather than to revive the state’s economy, revive struggling industries, or lessen people’s suffering.
Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor’s spokesperson, stated on Saturday that 344 individuals had been selected as his personal assistants from the state’s 203 political wards and 18 local government areas.
