Bruno Labbadia, a German strategist, and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have come to an agreement for Labbadia to manage the Super Eagles.

The decision was made on Tuesday morning by Mohammed Sanusi, the NFF’s secretary general. “The NFF Executive Committee has accepted the Technical and Development Sub-Committee’s suggestion that Mr. Bruno Labbadia be named the Super Eagles’ head coach. Sanusi declared, “The appointment is effective immediately.
Born on February 8, 1966, in Darmstadt, Germany, Labbadia earned two caps for Die Mannschaft. The strategist holds a UEFA Pro License and has coached well-known teams like Hertha Berlin and VfB Stuttgart this decade.
In the past, he has also coached teams like VfL Wolfsburg, Hamburger SV, and Bayer Leverkusen.
He is just the sixth German to captain the Super Eagles, following the two periods of Karl-Heinz Marotzke (1970–1974), Gottlieb Göller (1981), Manfred Höner (1988–1989), Berti Vogts (2007–2008), and Gernot Rohr (2016–2021).
The first task for Labbadi will be to lead the three-time African champions in two 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches: on Saturday, September 7, in Uyo, and on Tuesday, September 10, in Kigali.
There will be four more games in October and November to finish the qualifying race.
