This was disclosed on Monday during a meeting with the claimants by Mr. Williams Akin-Funmilayo, Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development. According to Akin-Funmilayo, the government recently purchased a large tract of land for the establishment of an Air Force Base, a general hospital, and an ICT centre.

These projects are to be built at Ajia in the Ona Ara Local Government region. To compensate the impacted claimants, the Oyo State government has set aside N513, 462, 446. 50k, or five hundred and thirteen million, four hundred and sixty-two thousand, four hundred and forty-six naira.

As per Akin-Funmilayo, the compensation is an essential measure in cultivating positive ties between the government and the inhabitants. Recall that the Oyo State Government had previously carried out an identification and verification process for the owners of properties along the project’s corridor, following which their properties were appraised in order for the State Government to prepare to pay compensation.

Mr. Adedokun Olalekan, a beneficiary, thanked Engr. Seyi Makinde, the state governor, for showing compassion for the people of Oyo State.
