3 arrested by the EFCC for impersonating as clerics and defrauding Zion members.

Three suspected fraudsters, Odion Victor, Amos Godwin, and Ayomide Michael, have been taken into custody by agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s Benin Zonal Directorate. The suspects used social media to pose as evangelist Chukwuebuka Obi of Zion Prayer Movement Outreach in an attempt to con unsuspecting members of the public.

The suspects were detained, the agency said in a statement released on Friday, after reliable intelligence revealed how they allegedly cloned Evangelist Ebuka Obi’s social media accounts and tricked many of his churchgoers into sending money to treat fictitious patients, plant seeds for spiritual breakthroughs, or request special prayers. The money was then transferred into the bank accounts of the con artists.

The three suspects would face charges in court as soon as the investigations were over, according to the EFCC statement.
