On Monday, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, formally decorated thirty (30) senior officers recently promoted to the ranks of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and Commissioner of Police (CP). The ceremony, held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall in Force Headquarters, Abuja, comes on the heels of the recent promotion of eighty-four (84) senior officers, which also saw fifty-four (54) Deputy Commissioners (DCP) and Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) elevated.
Addressing the officers, IGP Disu highlighted that the promotions reflect a recognition of merit, discipline, and demonstrated competence. He stressed that these advancements are not just rewards but a strategic investment in leadership, aimed at strengthening a Police Force that is effective, accountable, and responsive to the nation’s needs.
The IGP charged the newly decorated officers to lead by example, enforcing a strict policy of zero tolerance for indiscipline, corruption, or neglect of duty within their commands.

Reaffirming his vision for a modern and community-focused police force, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu emphasized his unwavering commitment to people-oriented policing, highlighting that respect for human rights and active community engagement are central, non-negotiable principles. He also announced that all newly promoted Assistant Inspectors-General of Police will attend a mandatory Strategic Leadership Retreat starting Tuesday, 24th March 2026. Organized in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the retreat aims to strengthen transformational leadership skills and promote modern policing ethics among the Force’s senior officers.
