The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, warmly welcomed Alhaji Mohammed Sheidu, Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), along with members of the Fund’s Board of Directors, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The meeting provided an important opportunity for strategic discussions, aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the NPTF to support ongoing reforms and enhance operational efficiency.
During the visit, Alhaji Sheidu reaffirmed the NPTF’s unwavering commitment to backing the Force through targeted, needs-driven initiatives that improve personnel welfare, training, and operational capacity. Highlighting the Fund’s achievements, he noted that it has conducted over 100 training programs benefiting more than 13,000 officers, completed over 170 infrastructure projects across the country, and advanced key initiatives in housing, healthcare, and modern policing technologies. He also emphasized the Fund’s dedication to ensuring operational readiness, modernizing facilities, and aligning all interventions with the Force’s strategic priorities.

Responding, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu emphasized that forging a stronger, more strategically focused partnership with the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) is a cornerstone of the Force’s ongoing reform efforts. He highlighted personnel welfare as an uncompromising priority, noting that better housing, accessible healthcare, and timely payment of insurance and welfare benefits are vital for maintaining morale, discipline, and operational efficiency.
The IGP specifically urged the NPTF to implement targeted welfare initiatives for junior officers, recognizing that those on the lower ranks bear the heaviest operational responsibilities and deserve consistent, structured support. He also reaffirmed his vision for a more responsive, technology-driven, and citizen-centered Nigeria Police Force, underscoring the pivotal role of the partnership in achieving these goals.
