Dangote Cement Plc has once again emerged as Nigeria’s “Most Compliant Taxpayer” for 2025, an honour presented by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) during its Special Day at the 2025 Lagos International Trade Fair, held at Tafawa Balewa Square.

This marks the second consecutive year that Africa’s leading cement manufacturer is receiving the award—an achievement FIRS says reflects the company’s exceptional dedication to transparency, accuracy, and timely tax compliance.
While presenting the award in the Large Taxpayer Group, FIRS noted that Dangote Cement was selected after a rigorous evaluation process involving tax controllers across different regions.
Accepting the award on behalf of the company, Mojisola Ogunlade, Group Head of Tax and Compliance, said the recognition reinforces Dangote Cement’s long-standing culture of accountability.
“This award is a testament to our commitment to fulfilling our tax obligations and supporting Nigeria’s development,” she said. “We are grateful to FIRS for acknowledging our efforts. We remain dedicated to partnering with the Service and upholding global best practices that strengthen an efficient and transparent tax ecosystem.”
Ogunlade added that FIRS’ annual recognition of top-performing organisations encourages stronger civic responsibility across the private sector, noting that the Dangote Group consistently demonstrates leadership in this regard. She recalled that the Group paid over ₦402 billion in taxes in 2024, making it Nigeria’s highest taxpayer that year.
She explained that Dangote Group maintains full compliance through structured, world-class internal systems aligned with national tax laws—emphasizing timely filings and eliminating the risks and costs associated with non-compliance.
“At Dangote, we cultivate a culture of tax discipline. It is our corporate duty to contribute meaningfully to national development through responsible revenue generation,” she said. “This award motivates us to continue driving excellence in corporate governance and economic contribution.”
Speaking earlier, Dr. Lovette Onanuga, Director of the Taxpayers Service Department at FIRS, said the ceremony is designed to celebrate organisations whose consistency, cooperation, and professionalism strengthen Nigeria’s revenue base.
She explained that the selection was based on inputs from tax controllers nationwide, stressing that compliance, timeliness, and best-practice engagement were key performance indicators.
“Your role as taxpayers is essential to helping FIRS fulfil its mandate,” she said. “This recognition is our way of appreciating your commitment and partnership.”
