ASR Africa Donates ₦250 Million Administrative Block to Al-Qalam University’s Health Sciences College

The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) has donated a fully completed and furnished administrative block valued at ₦250 million to Al-Qalam University’s proposed College of Allied Health Sciences in Katsina State. The project, which falls under ASR Africa’s Tertiary Education Grant Scheme (TEGs), was officially commissioned today in a ceremony held at the university.
The TEGs program aims to address infrastructure gaps and promote academic excellence in higher institutions across Africa. So far, 30 universities have benefitted, with grants ranging from ₦250 million to ₦2 billion.
During the commissioning, Al-Qalam University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nasiru Musa Yauri, expressed deep appreciation to ASR Africa, noting that the donation was timely and strategic. He highlighted that the facility aligns with the university’s plans to launch its College of Allied Health Sciences. To make full use of the new facility, the university has also partnered with leading healthcare institutions in Katsina to provide clinical training for students.
Managing Director of ASR Africa, Dr. Ubon Udoh, commended the university for its cooperation throughout the project’s execution. He praised the joint effort between ASR Africa and the university’s project management team, which ensured timely completion. He also encouraged the university community to maintain the facility properly for long-term impact.
Representing the Governor of Katsina State, H.E. Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Faskari, expressed gratitude to ASR Africa Chairman, Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, for investing in the state’s education sector. He reaffirmed the government’s focus on education as a foundation for social and economic progress.
The new administrative block includes fully equipped offices for academic and administrative staff, along with two conference halls. It is designed to support the university’s expansion into programs like Nursing Science, Public Health, Radiography, Physiotherapy, Optometry, and Medical Laboratory Sciences.
This initiative underscores Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu’s vision of enabling local institutions to create local solutions to local challenges, reaffirming ASR Africa’s commitment to impactful development across the continent.
