The Federal Government has officially declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, as public holidays in celebration of Eid-el-Fitr. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.

In his statement, the minister congratulated the Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and urged them to uphold the values of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace. He emphasized the significance of love, forgiveness, and solidarity in fostering a more harmonious society.
A statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, further conveyed the minister’s call for Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for the peace, stability, and prosperity of the nation. He expressed optimism that the Eid-el-Fitr festivities would serve as a reminder of the need for unity and cooperation across religious and ethnic divides.
Tunji-Ojo also encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly while extending kindness and charity to the less privileged, in line with the true spirit of Ramadan and Eid. On behalf of the Federal Government, he wished all Muslim faithful a joyful Eid Mubarak and prayed that the blessings of the season bring happiness, success, and fulfillment to all.
