Alhaji Ibraheem Dende Egungbohun (IBD), a prominent philanthropist and businessman in Nigeria, has urged all levels of government to keep promoting technical and vocational education to young people so that the nation can fulfil the demands of the global economy.

After receiving the Ogun State Institute of Technology, OGITECH, Igbesa fellowship award, Alhaji Egungbohun made the plea while addressing journalists. Chief Egungbohun, accompanied by his husband, also urged the government to increase the appeal of technical and vocational education to young people in order to address the issue of unemployment. In contrast to concerns that are detrimental to young, he pointed out that vocational and technical education are now prioritised in many industrialised nations, adding that the move would help the youth become self-reliant.
He stated that the only way for young people to acquire the entrepreneurial skills necessary to stand and operate independently is through vocational and technical education. Then, the government ought to make it more appealing to young people. It is the best course of action for this nation to put an end to this youthful laziness. He gave the Ogun State government credit for prioritising education and for revitalising technical institutes around the state through various initiatives, including rehabilitation.
He also emphasised how important it is that all levels of government prioritise the creation of skill-acquisition facilities so that graduates can learn careers in addition to their degrees. He claims that the action will lessen the nation’s kids’ excessive reliance on white-collar occupations. The business magnate emphasised the value of technical and vocational education for young people in society, explaining that in order for a nation to advance economically and technologically, the government must immediately give polytechnic education top priority and make it more pragmatic.
He pledged to do more to improve the less fortunate in society and thanked the rector and other administration of Ogun State Institute of Technology Igbesa for giving him the highest accolade of the institution.
Alhaji Egungbohun asserted that the government cannot finance education on its own and urged other wealthy members of the community to adopt a state-run school and have a significant influence there.
