As part of his efforts to modernise the education sector, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo is establishing a new benchmark for modern schools by converting twenty-two (22) secondary schools into smart schools, with many more to follow in the coming year.

With the consent of the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC), the schools would be dispersed among the state’s 21 Local Government Areas and through the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) program. According to a statement from Law Mefor PhD, the State Commissioner for Information, Governor Soludo’s administration would keep bolstering the state’s free education policy and improving current initiatives to give Anambra State students high-quality education.
He claimed that in addition to hiring 3,115 more instructors, the state had expanded its free education program to include Senior Secondary School Year 3 (SS3), bringing the total to 8,115. The necessary Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) equipment has been installed in 60 secondary school labs. Among other things, it has raised the operating funds for elementary and secondary schools to make sure they can provide the high-quality education that has been promised.
“We intend to invest heavily in education by 2025 in order to make our teachers and kids smile like never before. Additionally, we will keep funding mission schools, particularly those that are “returned mission schools.” The cost of primary and secondary education for parents in Anambra State is lowered because to our subsidies to mission schools,” Governor Soludo confirmed.
By empowering millions of young minds and fostering tech-innovative communities, the Soludo administration has also demonstrated a strong commitment to improving digital skills among Anambra State’s youth. This was exemplified during the One Million Digital Tribe launch event during the recent Anambra Innovation Week 2024, which aims to provide young people in the state with opportunity to thrive in their entrepreneurial and professional endeavours.
The project demonstrates the governor’s understanding that the state’s most significant resource is its human capital, and Soludo is passionate about using this advantage to boost the state’s economy.
