This year’s event, which was established in 2020 to recognize corporate leaders and IT executives who are spearheading innovation and change, will include a conference, exhibits, breakout sessions, and networking opportunities. The awards ceremony hopes to bring together experts from different sectors throughout Africa, with an anticipated 500 in-person attendees and over 1,000 virtual participants.
TCCAA, formerly known as “The CIO Awards,” has broadened its purview to honor success in the C-Suite as a whole, not only in IT leadership. The expanding significance of leadership in utilizing technology to create value in industries throughout the continent is reflected in this wider focus. By encouraging future generations of leaders to follow their passions and effect significant change in their communities, the awards seek to promote an innovative and exceptional culture in African technology leadership.
According to Abiola Laseinde, the convener of TCCAA and CEO of Edniesal Consulting, “Our vision is to empower leaders in IT and business, cultivating a culture of innovation and excellence across Africa, so that one day they too will grace global stages, showcasing their talents and achievements.” She came up with the concept during the COVID-19 pandemic’s difficulties, when IT specialists were essential to keeping companies running. It was clear how companies could carry on operating because of the commitment and knowledge of IT specialists.
I was inspired to develop a platform that would acknowledge and promote these unsung heroes of the technology industry because I realized how important they were to keeping things running at such extraordinary times,” she said. TCCAA’s expansion to 11 African nations—Nigeria, Rwanda, Tunisia, Uganda, Morocco, Zambia, Ghana, Kenya, Senegal, Egypt, and South Africa—reflects the rebranding. The participation of all C-Suite executives guarantees that the accomplishments of all worthy leaders across a range of industries are acknowledged.
