The Benue State Farmers’ Field Days initiative has been praised by the recipients of the farmers empowerment training provided by the Foundation for Sustainable Smallholder Solutions, FSSS (previously Syngenta Foundation Nigeria).

The Head of Mbashimbe, Zaki Iorwuese Imbya, responded to the development by saying, “We are grateful for this enlightenment and support for our community,” while also expressing his sincere gratitude for the training. This information has long been needed, and we hope the Foundation will continue to support us with ongoing advice. We look forward to their continued support of our community and are pleased to collaborate with them.”
Similarly, Mercy Dooshima Patrick emphasized that it was admirable to value the real-world knowledge acquired on the field days. “I learned so much about bean preservation and choosing the right crop varieties,” she said. “With this knowledge, I feel prepared to teach other farmers in our community, especially about post-harvest handling and seed selection.”
“Many of us would have continued using the same ineffective practices without the event,” stated Steven Ashimahar, another farmer. Since the program has taught us so much, we now have the means to increase the production from our fields. With additional training like this, we can keep refining our methods and guaranteeing the food security of our family.”
“We are committed to eliminating food insecurity in Nigeria by providing smallholder farmers with sustainable agricultural knowledge, resources, and support through strategic partnerships and community-based initiatives,” said Mzughul Simon Nyamve, the Foundation’s training partner and agronomist, in response to the praise expressed by attendees of the field days, which were organized in collaboration with AVISA and OCP Africa.
Additionally, we are dedicated to building resilience, planting seeds of wealth in rural communities, and assisting Nigeria in its transition to self-sufficiency and sustainable agriculture.
