A performance bond for the efficient completion of tasks allocated in accordance with Priority 2 of the Renewed Hope Agenda has been signed by directors in the Ministry of Police Affairs and the Honourable Minister Ibrahim Gaidam.

The National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) was provided with a statement signed by Mr Bolaji Kazeem, Deputy Director of Press, which states that the Honourable Minister’s representative, Mr James Sule, Permanent Secretary, conducted the formal signing ceremony for the performance bond at the Ministry’s Abuja headquarters.
According to the Minister, it is a significant occasion for the Directors to sign the Performance Contract Agreement in order to formally declare their dedication to excellence, accountability, and result-driven management, as well as to enhance the standard of living for the populace and put Nigeria on a sustainable development path.
“It is pertinent for everyone to know that we are responsible for carrying out policies, programs, and projects, as well as providing services that improve the well-being of Nigerian citizens and planned development that would significantly contribute to GDP,” he stated.
In order to support sustainable development, we must be open and responsible in our service delivery to Nigerian residents as stewards of the public trust. Gaidam emphasised that in October 2023, all Honourable Ministers and Permanent Secretaries signed Performance Bonds with the President, which broke down the Priority Areas into Ministerial Deliverables.
The Minister pointed out that in order to foster excellence in the public service, the Performance Contract specifies precise performance standards and objectives that must be met within a given time frame. It goes beyond just setting targets.
In order to strengthen national security for peace and prosperity, he continued, directors are expected to oversee the Performance Delivery process within their various departments. He noted that this process is dynamic, encouraging lesson learning, regular review and feedback mechanisms, as well as opportunities to address performance gaps and challenges.
The Minister emphasised. Gaidam reaffirmed that the Ministerial Mandate is a crucial aspect of government policy thrust that highlights the efforts made by all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in carrying out President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Eight Priority Areas.
The Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, Mrs. Azeez Margaret, said in her welcome speech that the contract is more than simply an agreement; it is a pledge to respect our standards, go above and above, and maintain responsibility for producing outcomes that will advance the company. “When implemented effectively, performance management serves as a roadmap for growth, innovation, and excellence as well as a tool for assessing our strengths and areas for improvement,” the speaker stated. Earlier, Professor Adeyemi Ajayi, the facilitator of the signing of the Performance Bond/Contract, noted that only the Ministry of Police Affairs had created, signed, and trained job descriptions for the personnel of the departments, out of the 19 ministries for which he had facilitated their Performance Management System (PMS).
He explained that the purpose of the performance contract is to hold employees accountable for their work performance and that the directors’ next duty is to cascade the contract’s terms down to the Ministry’s employees.
