I visited Borno State today to offer condolences and show solidarity with the Obidient Movement’s national coordinator, Dr. Tanko Yunusa, as well as other party and Obidient Movement members and distinguished senator Nenadi Usman, the vice presidential candidate, and other party members.

In response to the recent flooding that claimed many lives and ruined properties estimated to have cost enormous sums of money, we met Babagana Zulum, the state governor of Borno, His Highness the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garba Al Amin El-Kanemi, and the kind people of Borno State while we were there.
In addition, we went to an IDP camp at Government College where we encountered thousands of people, the Bank of the North spare parts market, where traders lost their wares, and a woman who tragically lost her newborn twins to the water.
The Labour Party is dedicated to helping individuals impacted by Borno State’s disastrous floods. We have given the state government an initial donation of ₦50M to show our support. However, our assistance doesn’t end there. We’ll be there for the people of Borno, offering support and resources as they rebuild their lives after this catastrophe. We want the people of Borno to know that they are not alone during this difficult time.
Our commitment is to assist in easing the pain and adversity brought on by the floods that have flooded more than half of Maiduguri and forced thousands of people to flee their homes. We will do all within our power to support the impacted families, and our thoughts and prayers are with them.
I express my gratitude to the government at all levels, particularly the administration of Borno State, for their assistance and involvement on behalf of the affected population.
As we consider the great loss and the difficult road to recovery, may God Almighty grant those who have lost their life everlasting rest, make up for the losses of those who have lost their possessions, and speedy recovery for those who are still in the hospital. Above everything, may Nigeria and Borno State remain blessed by God Almighty.
