Chidinma, who has been embroiled in controversy due to her mixed nationality, defeated four other competitors in the final five to claim the title of overall winner.

Along with overcoming a challenging first round of tasks and test wits, the 23-year-old law student was one of 24 contenders seeking to become the future Miss Universe Nigeria 2024. Representative for Taraba State, Miss Chidimma Adetshina, advanced to the last five round with Miss Rivers, Nyekachi Douglas; Miss Anambra, Paula Ezendu; Miss Edo, Edeifo Brittany; and Miss Ondo, Ayegbidun Peace Olamide.

Following rigorous examination and assessment, Miss Chidinma was declared the contest winner. Miss Anambra placed first, followed by Miss Supranational and Miss Ondo Ayegbidun Peace Olamide, who was awarded Miss Lush.

A few days after she shared how she overcame her dual citizenship identity crisis, she was crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024. In an open conversation with former Big Brother Naija star Tacha on Cool FM, Chidinma revealed that she occasionally had to weep herself to sleep on the problem.

She adamantly stated that by altering her perspective, she was able to manage her identity conflicts, which caused debate between South Africans and Nigerians.

Her comments come after the South African Home Office accused her of fraud and identity theft, leading to her disqualification from the Miss South Africa pageant.
