The oral interview sessions for the state’s teacher recruitment drive, which drew in 8,077 hopefuls, were ended by the Oyo State administration on Monday. During a meeting with board members today, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), disclosed this information.

Remember that the board just revealed that 50,700 applications had registered on its official website. Of the 45,827 applicants that took the exam, 8, 197 received a score higher than 50. The Chairman, who presided over the Board meeting, stated that the oral interview sessions, which did not apply to individuals with impairments, began on August 14, 2024, and concluded on Monday, August 26, 2024. However, he stated that September 10 and 11, 2024, are the dates set aside by the Board for interviews with applicants who have disabilities.
According to Dr. Adeniran, who commended Seyi Makinde for the emphasis the state placed on education, the Board came to an agreement with the Oyo State Agency for People with Disabilities. The Board also approved the September 12, 2024, date of the carer interview session.
He also instructed every applicant in the carer category to access their interview schedule slip by logging into their site. He promised that only the most qualified applicants would be hired. As a cornerstone of the present administration’s sustainable development program, Adeniran reiterated the Board’s commitment to hiring skilled instructors. In an interview, one of the candidates, Gbolagade Timileyin, praised the Oyo State government through the Board for the open and honest procedure.
“I think I did well on the oral exam; I applied as a teacher. We appreciate the government’s kindness,” Mr. Thomas stated. The state government has been commended by the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) Oyo wing for conducting the ongoing primary school teacher recruitment process in a transparent and comprehensive way.
The NUT chairman, Comrade Raji Oladimeji, and secretary, Comrade Salami, jointly signed a statement in which the union described the current teacher recruiting process as different from earlier ones.
In keeping with the goals of the current administration, the union expressed optimism that the new teachers hired at the end of the exercise will significantly strengthen the teaching profession in the state.
