In the wake of a dispute with the Ogun State Government over the Ogun Free Trade Zone, the Federal Government has disclosed plans to recover two presidential aeroplanes that were taken by Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment business Ltd., a Chinese business.

The jets were confiscated on a French court’s decision, and efforts were underway to retrieve them, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Eche Abu-Ode, revealed on Thursday. A Dassault Falcon 7X at Le Bourget airport in Paris and a Boeing 737 are among the confiscated aircraft; an Airbus 330 at Basel-Mulhouse airport in Switzerland was freed last Friday.
Abu-Ode pointed out that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs exercises prudence while handling sensitive information, declaring that some facts are private and won’t be shared until the problem is fixed or the information won’t jeopardise the proceedings.
In an update on the matter, Abu-Ode stated, “Attempts are underway to recover the two planes that were taken into custody. The challenge you’ll encounter with Foreign Affairs is that, in contrast to other ministries, we don’t readily address the media until a matter is resolved or when the information won’t put the matter in jeopardy. Certain material is confidential.
Restoring Nigeria’s presidential aviation fleet and settling the conflict are the goals of the Federal Government’s effort to retrieve the jets that were taken.
