Afrobeat musician David Adeleke, better known by his stage as Davido, and his Baby Mama, Sophia Momodu, are engaged in a legal struggle that has taken on new dimensions.
You might remember that Davido had sued to get custody of their daughter, Imade Adeleke.

On April 17, 2024, his attorneys filed a lawsuit in the Lagos High Court, asking the judge to give him complete custody of the girl.
In contrast, Sophia Momodu disagreed with the singer on joint custody of their daughter in a counteraffidavit.
Through her legal team, which included Dr. Bimpe Ajegbomogun and Anthony Idigbe, SAN of Punuka Attorney, Sophia submitted the 102 paragraph counter-affidavit.
The lawsuit, filed under the case number LD/1587PMC/2024, names Mr. David Adedeji Adeleke as the petitioner and Ms. Sophia Momodu as the only respondent. This marked the start of their custody dispute.
Before now, Davido has made it clear to everyone who would care to know that he had regularly paid his fair share of the costs associated with their child’s upbringing; yet, in spite of his best efforts, Sophia has persisted in making irrational requests that appear to be intended just to annoy and aggravate him.

Sophia, however, refuted the accusations through her attorneys. According to her, Davido has refused to see their daughter since July 2022 of his own free will.
For the past two years, Sophia claims that she has been the only one raising their daughter while Davido has been using Imade’s images on social media to “falsely depict himself as a caring and active parent.”
