Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, didn’t just make a routine visit to the #TheGoodGuys headquarters—the unit he led over five years ago—he used the moment to reconnect with a team that played a key role in his journey.
His first stop was the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), where Executive Secretary Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan warmly received him and applauded his bold reforms, especially his efforts to strengthen ties between the police and the public.
At the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), the visit turned into a reunion of sorts, as Disu engaged with officers and personnel he once worked closely with in building #TheGoodGuys and other impactful initiatives. CSP Shola Jejeloye commended him for his strong leadership and lasting influence.
He also met with members of the Lagos State Governor’s Correspondents, a group he had maintained a solid relationship with during his time as RRS Commander. Their chairman and other members praised his leadership, both in his previous role and now as Inspector-General.
While in Lagos, Disu—alongside senior officers including AIG Zone 2, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, Lagos State Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai, Taskforce Chairman Tayo Akerele, and DPO Ikeja CSP Akinwunmi Oke—also spent time interacting with members of the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN).
The visit wrapped up with a state banquet hosted in his honour by the Lagos State Government. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu captured the essence of the moment in a message shared on social media.
He described Disu’s rise as inspiring, noting that long before becoming IGP, Lagos had already shaped his character—through its streets, the halls of Lagos State University, and the communities of Lagos Island where he was born.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted Disu’s track record, from his impactful leadership of the RRS to his national assignments, emphasizing his consistency, dedication, and professionalism.
According to the governor, Disu’s journey is a reminder that success is built on hard work, integrity, and service. He added that Lagos not only nurtures ambition but also produces leaders who make a difference.
The governor concluded by describing the evening as a celebration of service and the Lagos spirit, expressing pride in Disu and the values he continues to represent with discipline and honour.
