Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to visit Ogun State tomorrow on an official trip that will spotlight a wide range of major projects, highlighting the state’s push toward modern infrastructure, economic growth, and better public services.
In a statement released by Hon. Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the President’s schedule outlines the unveiling and inspection of key investments across several sectors.
A major highlight of the visit is the commissioning of the Gateway International Airport in Iperu, a flagship project aimed at positioning Ogun as a key player in Nigeria’s aviation and logistics space. During the event, the President will also unveil two newly acquired aircraft under Gateway Air, marking the official launch of the state’s airline initiative in collaboration with ValueJet.
To further demonstrate the airport’s readiness for commercial operations, cargo handling activities will be showcased with support from SAHCOL, signaling the commencement of full-scale freight services. Other notable assets to be commissioned at the airport include 1,000 electric bikes as part of the state’s eco-friendly mobility plan, 80 security vehicles to enhance safety, and a fleet of tractors to support agriculture and boost food production.
Beyond the airport, the President will inaugurate the Ilishan–Iperu Airport Road, improving access to the new aviation hub and surrounding communities. He will also inspect the Nigeria Customs Service Village and commission the Forward Operating Base, strengthening trade operations and border security efforts.
The itinerary also includes the inspection and commissioning of the Gateway Aviation Village, designed to complement and support the growing aviation ecosystem in the state.
In another key moment, the reconstructed Sapade–Ilishan Road—formerly known as the Old Ibadan Road—will be officially renamed the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Expressway. This important route is expected to enhance connectivity and stimulate economic activities across the region.
The visit will conclude with an inspection of the Sagamu–Benin Concrete Road, a critical federal project aimed at improving transportation along one of the country’s busiest corridors.
Altogether, these developments reflect the vision of Dapo Abiodun to transform Ogun into a modern, connected, and economically vibrant state. The President’s visit not only marks the rollout of these projects but also underscores the collaboration between federal and state governments in advancing sustainable development.
