Just In: Fatai Tijani Orders Lagos Taskforce Off Road Duties

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Fatai Tijani, has ordered the immediate and total withdrawal of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce) from all traffic control and enforcement duties across the state.
This move, according to the police, is part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic management by promoting professionalism, accountability, and clearer roles among agencies.
In a statement signed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, it was clarified that although the Taskforce will no longer handle traffic-related operations, it will continue to carry out its other assigned responsibilities without interruption.
The Command also reminded residents that the Lagos Taskforce is not the only enforcement unit operating in the state. As such, motorists and members of the public are advised to always confirm the identity of officials before making complaints or allegations, especially on traffic matters.
Reaffirming its commitment, the Lagos State Police Command assured residents that it remains dedicated to protecting lives and property, while ensuring all operations are conducted in line with the law and established best practices. The public was also urged to obey the law and cooperate with authorized security agencies.
