The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, yesterday hosted a historic interfaith Iftar and Lent dinner at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, bringing together police officers of different faiths in a celebration of unity, respect, and shared values.
This first-of-its-kind event at the Force Headquarters aimed to strengthen interfaith harmony within the Police Force while promoting discipline, cohesion, and mutual understanding among officers.
The gathering was graced by notable personalities, including Senator Amos Yohanna, representing the Senate Committee on Police Affairs; Honourable Jafar Yakubu from the House Committee on Police Affairs; Mrs. Oluwafumilola Disu, President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA); Alhaji Mohammed Sheidu, Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF); AIG Hakeem Odumosu (Rtd); Prof. Imam Musa of the Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Abuja Branch; alongside other distinguished stakeholders.

In his address, IGP Tunji Disu highlighted the deep significance of Ramadan and Lent as times for reflection, sacrifice, and service. He noted that, despite their diverse faiths and traditions, officers of the Nigeria Police Force are bound together by common values—discipline, compassion, and commitment to duty. Stressing the importance of religious harmony within the Force, he described it as a key foundation for professionalism and effective service.
The IGP also extended heartfelt greetings to Muslim faithful during the Ramadan season, encouraging them to embrace the spirit of peace, tolerance, and selflessness that defines this period.
Reassuring the public, IGP Disu stated that security has been significantly bolstered across all States of the Federation. He highlighted strengthened deployments, enhanced surveillance, and proactive measures across Commands and Formations to ensure a safe and peaceful environment throughout the festive season.
