Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed deep appreciation to the State’s Muslim community for their unwavering support for his administration and for their commitment to fostering religious harmony and peaceful coexistence with followers of other faiths.
Governor Oyebanji emphasized that this support has been a vital driver of development in Ekiti, noting that peace and unity among citizens provide the strong foundation on which real progress is built.
He made these remarks on Monday while hosting an Iftar (breaking of fast) for Muslim leaders from all 16 local government areas at Jibowu Hall, Government House, Ado Ekiti.
The Governor also called on the community to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, highlighting that many of the achievements of his administration have been possible thanks to the President’s backing. He stressed that President Tinubu has fulfilled all the promises made to the State during the 2022 election campaign.
In particular, Governor Oyebanji thanked the President for granting provisional approval for the construction of the Itawure–Aramoko–Ado Ekiti road, describing it as a project that will boost the State’s socio-economic development and serve as a catalyst for electoral success in both the June 20 governorship election and the January 2027 presidential election.

The Governor noted that contractors responsible for the project have assured that they will move to the site within the next two weeks.
At the event, Governor Biodun Oyebanji praised the outstanding contributions of Muslims serving in his administration, emphasizing that, if re-elected, he plans to allocate even more appointive positions to members of the Muslim community.
He said, “There is no doubt that the support from the Muslim community is genuine. I know you stand with us sincerely, and I promise to continue working for you. All the Muslims in my government, from the Secretary to the State Government down, are performing excellently, which is why we currently have fifty-one serving in various capacities.
“Every milestone in Ekiti has been possible thanks to the support of President Bola Tinubu. As you pray for me, please also pray for him. When he came here during the campaign, he made several promises, and I’m proud to say he has fulfilled them all — even the ones I thought were impossible. For example, the Itawure–Aramoko–Ado road project: the contractor received a provisional letter of award two weeks ago and will begin work immediately after Ramadan, pending Federal Executive Council ratification,” he added.
During the Iftar lecture, the Imam of Ansar-Ud-Deen, Ado Ekiti, Sheikh Abdullahi Abdulmutali, encouraged Muslims to live righteously and in the fear of God, reminding them that only through consistent good deeds can they attain heavenly reward.
Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere Bello, who prayed for the state, the Governor, and President Tinubu, commended both leaders for fostering peace and shared prosperity.
The event also drew notable attendees, including former Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Muslim members of the state House of Assembly and Executive Council, as well as representatives from the Muslim communities across all sixteen local government areas.
