The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays in celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Making the announcement on behalf of the government, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended warm wishes and congratulations to Muslims on successfully completing the Ramadan fast.
In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, the Minister encouraged Muslims to continue upholding the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice that define the holy month.
He also urged all Nigerians to use the festive period as an opportunity to pray for the nation’s peace, unity, and progress.
While wishing Muslims a joyful Eid-ul-Fitr celebration, he advised citizens to celebrate responsibly and remember the less privileged through acts of kindness. He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting unity and peaceful coexistence across the country.
